Dolphins LB Andrew Van Ginkel blocks Chargers punt, setting up Salvon Ahmed touchdown
Miami Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel continues to make plays against NFL teams from Los Angeles, blocking the Chargers' first punt Sunday to set up the first touchdown of the game, a 1-yard Salvon Ahmed touchdown run.
It was the Dolphins' first blocked punt since Nov. 11, 2018.
Less than two minutes into the first quarter, Van Ginkel broke through the interior of the Chargers' line and blocked the punt with his outstretched right hand.
Jamal Perry recovered the ball at the 1-yard line, and Ahmed scored on the next play.
Two weeks ago, Van Ginkel had a 78-yard fumble return for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams. It was the second-longest fumble return score in franchise history. He also had 2.5 sacks entering Sunday.
It's also the second time in the last four games Chargers punter Ty Long has had a punt blocked.
