State orders schools closed until May 1
The Florida Department of Education has extended school closures through at least May 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Franklin County Superintendent Traci Yoder.
She said the announcement came after a late afternoon conference call with superintendents. She told school board members she planned to issue a communication to parents in keeping with a state request that districts delay the announcement at least an hour.
The news has spread quickly on the Internet, and the FDOE has confirmed the time frame.
The Franklin County School Board met in special session this evening, Monday, March 30 at 6 p.m.
