St. James’ moms treated to parade
Mother’s Day was as exciting as can be expected at St. James Health and Rehabilitation Center for 75 residents and staff who watched a parade from inside the building as several people from around the county waved and paraded around the building.
“St James is free of the coronavirus and their annual Mother’s Day tea with their invited families had to be canceled,” said Sharon Sleeper, who helped organize the event. “So this idea was born. They couldn't see their families, since they haven’t been allowed to visit for eight weeks, so we joined forces and brought them a parade.”
Several people drove decorated cars which served as excellent social distancing vehicles between groups of walkers. In addition, Betsy Crabbe entertained at the front entrance singing and playing her guitar.
“A big thanks to everyone who participated to make this day very, very special for 75 residents of St. James,” said Sleeper.
