The Franklin County varsity boys basketball team wrapped up the first half of the season with a solid win over Bozeman at home Friday.

The 67-30 victory moved the Seahawks to 2-1 in the district, in third place behind the two leaders, Crossroad Academy and Port St. Joe, both undefeated.

After jumping to a 22-10 first quarter lead, and 41-24 at the intermission, Kam Ashabranner’s squad clamped down in the third quarter, outscoring the Bucks 22-2 en route to the 37-point win.

Sophomore forward Carter Kembro led the team with 20 points and eight rebounds, and is averaging a double double on the season. He was a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line.

Senior guard Grady Escobar downed 14 points, one more than senior forward Ayden Pearson, who had 13 points and 13 rebounds,

Junior guard Eden Brathwaite contributed eight points and 10 assists.

"We will be practicing all during Christmas break to prepare for January," said Ashabranner, whose squad opens 2020 with games against the two district leaders.

After facing Malone at home Jan. 3, and traveling to Cottondale the following night, the Seahawks welcome Crossroad Academy to The Nest on Tuesday, Jan. 7 and then travel to Port St. Joe the following Friday.

Ashabranner said the team plans to step up its promotional giveaways in 2020. "We will be giving out some t-shirts and other prizes at the upcoming home games," he said. "We had a good turnout of fans at the game tonight."
