As we navigate this international health crisis locally, there is plenty to be thankful for as a community. We can be thankful for our local hospital, physicians, and healthcare providers. We can be thankful for our ambulance crews, drugstores, and area restaurants who are doing their very best to provide food and needed services while keeping their employees as safe as possible. We can be grateful too for our city and county government officials and staff for making difficult decisions and providing critical services during this trying time.

I would like to add one more business to our list: our Piggly Wiggly grocery store. Local owners Lee and Trish McLemore are working tirelessly to keep their shelves stocked so that we in the community can feed our families and purchase needed supplies for daily living. It takes great perseverance and creativity to keep a steady supply of trucks coming into our community to meet our needs.

I’m grateful our store is locally owned. I’m grateful to Lee and Trish for their tireless efforts on our behalf. And I’m grateful to all the Piggly Wiggly store’s employees for their commitment to us, their customers.

May you all be safe and may you receive the thanks of a grateful community you so richly deserve.
