Ernest “Buddy” Stephens, of Tallahassee, passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020.

Born Jan. 24, 1944, his parents moved to Texas when he was a child. After he finished school, he entered the U.S. Navy, where he retired after a more than 25-year career. Following that he worked for the State of Florida.

He is survived by one son, Kenny Stephens (Elizabeth), and one daughter Faith Stephens, all of Texas; three grandchildren Shiloh, Ivy and Elijah; sister Lavonia Stephens Roland (Bill), of Arkansas; and brother Earl Stephens, of Texas.

There will be a memorial service at the Eastpoint Church of God at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, with a family and friends meal served in the fellowship hall.

Flowers may be sent to Beggs Funeral Home - Apalachee Chapel in Tallahassee, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastpoint Church of God, where he was a member.

On Friday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m., there will be a military service, followed by interment, at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
