Loraine J. "Brownie" Browne, 99, of Apalachicola, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, with her family by her side.

She was born to the late John W. Johnson and Naomi Johnson on March 30, 1920, in Glenwood, Georgia.

She received her bachelor of science from Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia. She married the late Wendell E. Browne, and their love story continued until his death in 1975.

Loraine is survived by one son, Wendell (Tena), of Lynn Haven; one grandchild, Holley Kivett (Jett), of Lynn Haven; two great-grandchildren Ava and Harper, many nieces and nephews, and her cherished niece, Shirley Rainwater.

Loraine was predeceased by her loving husband in 1975.

Loraine retired from Apalachicola State Bank as a customer service representative, and she dedicated many years volunteering for the American Cancer Society until her health prevented her from doing so. Loraine loved everyone, and several years after retirement, she sampled food at Gulfside IGA, the highlight of her Friday evenings. In 2015 she was crowned Ms. Bridge at The Bridge of Bay St. Joe Health and Rehabilitation.

The visitation will be at noon on Thursday, Jan. 30 at Kelly Funeral Home, with the funeral following at 1 p.m.
