There will be a Celebration of Life held at Carrabelle First Assembly of God on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m., with visitation and fellowship immediately following the service.

Clyde C. Millender, 78, of Carrabelle, passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, in Tallahassee.


Clyde was born on August 7, 1941 in Carrabelle to Preston "Buck" and Alma Millender.


After graduating from Carrabelle High School in 1960, he joined the Air Force, where he received training in communications and radar surveillance. After serving honorably for four years in the Air Force, he returned home to Carrabelle where he met and married his wife of 55 years, Marion Brodie Millender.


Clyde got a job working at the U.S. Airforce Vetro Site, in Cape San Blas, so he moved to Port St. Joe and started raising a family. While living in Port St. Joe and working at Vetro, Clyde made many lifelong friends. Clyde got the opportunity to move back home to Carrabelle in 1974, and began working with St. Joseph Telephone Company, GT Com and Fairpoint Communications until his retirement in 2011.


Clyde was a member of the Carrabelle United Methodist Church. He was a proud Mason and member of the Curfew Lodge 73 of Carrabelle. Clyde was also a longtime member of the Carrabelle Volunteer Fire Department. Clyde was supportive of his community and participated with Little League Baseball, serving as coach and umpire as well as many other community activities, athletic events and fundraisers over the years as his children were growing up. Clyde was always willing to help and serve his family, neighbors and community whenever there was a need and will forever be missed.


Clyde is survived by his wife, Marion Brodie Millender, of Carrabelle; son, Chris (Jen) Millender; grandson, Gabriel Smith, of Carrabelle; daughter, Marnie (Glenn) Brazzell, of Tallahassee; brother, Jesse (Mayme) Millender; sisters, Pete (Charles) and Glady Jacobe, of Carrabelle, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ruby (J.W.) Thompson, Catherine "Cat" (Bob) Stiner, and Frankie (Big Jep) Smith; and grandson, Austin Clyde Millender of Carrabelle.

The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Clyde to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
