Mrs. Betty Jean Powell, 75, of Tallahassee, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at Big Bend Hospice House.
A Custom Celebration of Life will be 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home on Timberlane Road. A catered reception for family and friends will follow the services.
Mrs. Powell was born in Tallahassee on June 22, 1944, to Sinclair Wells Powell and Clote Rose Givens Powell. She worked for many years as a talented computer analyst. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling. She greatly enjoyed London, where she was able to see the Phantom of the Opera; the Bahamas with her work crew; Stonehenge; and the mountains of Colorado and Montana.
She loved to spend time with her family and grandkids, enjoyed going to the kids’ sporting events and taking them rollerblading. She also was a consistent volunteer at The Ronald McDonald House and Maclay Gardens.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sinclair and Clote Powell.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughter, Kim White (Kevin), of Quincy; her grandchildren, Cody White (Emily), of Tallahassee, and Courtney Camper (Alan), of Monticello, and great-granddaughter AJ Camper; her sisters, Jane Lee, of Tallahassee, and Clarice Powell, of Apalachicola; her nieces, Tara McDonald (Danny), of Madisonville, Louisiana, Jodi Lee, of Tallahassee, and Gretchen Schneider, of Panama City; and her nephews, Jamie Lee, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Tory Gross of Asheville, North Carolina.
