A celebration of life is Saturday morning, Nov. 16 at The First United Methodist Church in Eastpoint.
Horace “Willard” Harrison Jones, Jr. was invited to go fishing with the Master on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019. He accepted the invitation but forgot his fishing pole.
Willard was born on Dec. 7, 1950 in Blountstown to the late Harold Levy Summerlin and Ruth Jenkins. He was adopted by the late Horace Harrison Jones, Sr. and Lovie Ruth Brewer Jones, of Eastpoint, in Feb. 1963.
Willard joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 and served on the USS Duncan as a gunnery mate. He loved to fish and being with his family. He had many jobs over the years but his greatest vocation was being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather!
Willard is survived by six sons, Buddy Jones of Texas, Leroy Jones of Marianna, Dennis (Susan) Jones of Apalachicola, Jim (Michelle) Jones of Destin, Earl (Karie) Jones of Haines City, and Curtis Levy Jones of Panama City.
He is also survived by brothers Harold “Dwight” (Charlotte) Summerlin of Hosford, Roy (Cheryl) Summerlin of Ft. Myers; Glover “Terry” Jones of Lake Wales; and sisters Lovie Ruth (Rodney) Baker of Wewahitchka; Glenda Brayman of Palatka, Lena (Albie) Wells of Hope Springs, Colorado, and Karen (John) Wesley of Fountain. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
All are invited to the Celebration of His Life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at The First United Methodist Church, 317 Patton Drive, Eastpoint. The Revs. Brian Brightly and Glenda Jones Brayman will be the officiants.
If anyone asks where Willard has gone, simply reply, “he is fishing with the Master.”
