Connor Sawall beat his older brother, Gary Droze defeated his wife, Dan Fortunas outran his daughter and Alex Itzkovitz outdid the rest of the family.
It was all part of the spirit Saturday for the annual St. George Island Sizzler 5K.
Ethan’s older brother, Connor, an eighth grader from Charleston, South Carolina, finished well behind the young brother , who finished the mile in 8:04, not quite able to beat his record of 7:55.
“I could have run further,” said Ethan, who has started cross country, and plays in his 11 and under traveling baseball team.
Connor on the other hand brags of his own baseball exploits, as he batted .430 and made the All Star team.
Tallahassee Community College track coach easily bested the field of 96 runners in the 5K, as the 58-year-old ran a 18:19, the second time he ran the course that day, and nearly a minute ahead of the runner-up.
Droze’s wife Vicky was tops among the females, with a time of 22:39.
