We are very concerned about the planned unit development (PUD) developers are bringing to the public hearing Tuesday, May 21. The development is located close to the foot of the bridge going to St. George Island and is completely surrounded by estuaries (including the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve).
The two plats show the approximate location of residential and commercial today. If the developers are successful, much of the residential will be turned into commercial, leaving 3-plus acres of residential for 44 houses with wetlands on both sides.
So much of Eastpoint is Already commercial; all of Highway 98 and much of the side roads as well. Please help keep this tract zoned as is (47 one-acre homes and 10 acres commercial). Let's keep this huge commercial density away from our precious wetlands.
