Thanks to a three-run seventh innings, the Lady Seahawks came from behind to defeat district rival Bozeman 3-2 at home April 3.
“It was pretty uneventful until the bottom of the seventh,” said coach Scott Collins. “The girl from Bozeman, she threw a good game.”
Sophomore Abby Johnson blasted a solo home run over the left field wall to get the inning going.
The freshman Sage Brannan draws a walk, followed by a double from eighth grader Kylah Ross, which scored pinchrunner seventh grader Alexcia McNair.
With no outs, and the winning run on second, senior Melanie Collins tapped a sacrifice bunt to advance Ross to third, and then freshman Ariel Andrews drew a walk.
With the infield drawn in, senior Alexus Johnson hit a single up the middle to drive home the winning run.
Prior to that inning, only freshman Brooklyn O’Neal had managed a hit, and also stole a base.
Brannan hurled a complete game, giving up a hit, and two runs, one of them earned, while striking out seven, and walking one.
“This was a huge win for us. It puts us in the driver seat for the one seed in the playoffs,” said Collins.
