A new Audubon Christmas bird count is planned for Saturday, Dec. 29, a trial run this year that will purposely include areas around St. George Island and Eastpoint.

The area to be studied sits east of the annual Apalachicola Christmas bird count. Results will be reported to the Audubon Society as part of their nationwide winter census. If the trial is successful, the count will be included in future years.

In case of poor weather, the count may be moved to New Year’s Day.
