SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane’s Hans Crouse allowed one hit in seven scoreless innings as the Indians defeated Eugene 2-1 Friday night in Northwest League baseball.

Jonathan Sierra’s double in the second inning was the only hit for the Ems (10-18) until Gustavo Polanco homered to lead off the ninth inning against reliever Cole Uvila.

Sierra was the only baserunner for Eugene against Crouse, who struck out 11.

Spokane (10-18) got a run off Eugene starter Riley Thompson in the bottom of the first when Julio Pablo Martinez led off with a single and stole second. Diosbel Arias singled in Martinez to put the Indians into the lead.

Thompson allowed three hits in two innings before reliever Jeffrey Passantino tossed four scoreless innings until the Indians got a run off him in the seventh.

Tyler Depreta-Johnson hit a two-out double and scored on a single by Isaias Quiroz.

Reliever Riley McCauley pitched a scoreless eighth inning for Eugene.
