The Albertville City Board of Education at a called meeting on Friday accepted a professional service contract with Second Life Mac for a minimum payment of $14,025 for 187 iMac computers. The move followed a vote to declare the computers surplus.
Second Life Mac is a Chicago company that buys and sells Apple computers from and to schools and businesses.
The board voted to hire Kelleybrooke Brown as an independent contractor with the district drama programs for 75 days, in conjunction with the Albertville City Schools Foundation, for three play productions. The contract will run from Aug. 1 through July 31, 2019 (not to exceed $30,000).
The final design for the new pre-K building was approved as submitted by McKee & Associates.
Approval was given for a job description for campus events and safety facilitator.
Personnel items included two leaves, one retirement, four resignations, 11 employments, 11 supplement assignments, four supplement transfers and four other items.
Bobby Stewart was elected president and Sandy Elkins vice-president of the board.
Superintendent Boyd English reported that the city council during its May meeting reappointed Mike Price to another five-year term on the board.
