The Carrabelle Airport Public Safety Day Extravaganza drew a small but enthusiastic crowd Saturday, to the Carrabelle–Thompson Airport.

The well-organized event featured a all Franklin County law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS, Florida Forest Service, Florida Fish and Wildlife with a rescue aircraft, Florida Highway Patrol with their rollover simulator, Department of Corrections with K-9 units, Humane Society with free neutering/spaying vouchers, Weems Hospital with free health screenings, and the air ambulance from Shands.

Interactive demonstrations, giveaways for youngsters, live music from Debi Jordan and local food vendors helped make it a success.

Tim Sullivan, head of the airport advisory commitee, said airport consultants Kimley-Horn unveiled deatils of a 20-year master plan Monday to the commitee. He said there will be public meetings to review the details.

"We have a waiting list of 12 for the the new hangars," he said.
