Thanksgiving came very early this year and made a return visit for a few lucky seniors and friends in Apalachicola.

On Nov. 8, Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County (ECCC) joined forces with H’COLA and Franklin's Promise to host a festive holiday celebration at Apalachicola’s Holy Family Senior Center.

There was live music throughout the meal provided by Maxine Kellogg, Randy Mims, Jenny Odom, Jhaki Davis and Lou and Lynn Wamps. About 30 people were treated to ham and roast chicken with traditional casseroles and desserts.

The Franklin County School’s art and culinary arts students will host a second Thanksgiving luncheon at Holy Family on Friday Nov. 17 at noon. All seniors are invited to attend and there is no charge.

The students will come back on Dec. 14 to interview seniors about their memories of food and favorite recipes. The teenagers want to make a book with the photos and stories collected.
