Jean Lichardello Nabors, 75, of Apalachicola, passed away on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Nabors, and her “daughter,” sister, best friend Patricia Lichardello; Patricia’s children, Michael Trest (Rhonda) and their children Kairi and Ryland, and Desiree Trest (Daniel Platt) and their son, James Ryan.

Jean is also survived by three stepchildren, Dale Nabors (Tina) Selena Phipps and Janet Nabors; four step-grandchildren Jessica Nabors, Christina Nabors, Jacqueline Nabors, and Chris Nabors; and three-step-great-grandsons, Austin Davis, Jayden Davis and Ja’Kayden Cummins.

Siblings surviving Jean, in addition to Patricia, are Joy Moore (Marvin), John Layne (Nellree), Buster Lichardello, Charles Lichardello, Judy Hand (Francis), Linda Gordon (Rolf), and Ricky Lichardello; as well as numerous cousins. Nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her father Geno, her mother Lucille, her twin sister Jeannette, and her brother Willie, and her soulmate Elvis Presley.

One of Jean’s great accomplishments in life was obtaining her GED at a late age and then going on to work for the Florida Department of Corrections, where she was employed for nearly 16 years, leaving very reluctantly due to health problems. She was well-respected on the job by officers and inmates alike for her toughness and fairness.

Jean was the glue that held her family together. Her legacy of kindness and warmth is appreciated by all who knew her. Jean was a very loving and giving person. She never needed a reason to bake a cake other than to make an ordinary day something special. However, she was best known for her masterpiece wedding cakes.

This sweet soul will be missed by many.

Graveside services will be held at Magnolia Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
