I would like to extend my most gracious thank-yous to the Franklin County EMS, the Philaco Women’s Club, the Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers and other who put on a spectacular Mother’s Day parade for all of our ladies here at St James Health & Rehabilitation. Their Mother’s Day was truly special and extremely appreciated, especially at a time when our facility is so limited on the group activities and outings that are normally provided for them to shop, dine, fish or visit the beach. They are eager to get back to a regular schedule of physical, recreational, social and spiritual group activities as soon as possible, or as I like to call it, “Fun.”
Here at St James Health & Rehabilitation, our activity staff, along with the assistance of other staff members, are being creative with doorway games, exercise, treats, “looking glass” (window) visits and Facetime visits. Our residents are hanging in there and are coping remarkably well with the temporary changes, while understanding that we are doing everything we can to protect them from potentially contracting COVID-19.
We are planning a cookout on Memorial Day for our residents and employees and would like to invite family, friends and the community to participate in a drive-by parade on Monday, May 25 at 2 p.m. to honor the sacrifice of our veterans. If you would like to be a participant in the parade, please contact Denise Jefferson, life enrichment director at 697-2020, ext. 124.
