Betty Davis took this photo of Apalachicola's Dorothy Cooper, her 85-year-old aunt, now recuperating from an Oct. 15 automobile accident, at last Sunday afternoon's 'Sentimental Journey Through Song" concert performed by the Bay Area Choral Society at the Carrabelle Christian Center to honor World War II veterans.
"When I got her out of my car to put her in her wheelchair, I noticed she had brought her favorite veteran with her," she said. "She and my uncle, Lonnie Cooper, were married 60 years when he passed away in 2013. He had served in the Army Air Corps as a nose gunner on a B -24 Liberator."
Davis said her aunt waved the photo avidly in the air when it was time to play each of the service branch's songs.
