John Solomon returned from last month’s 2019 Florida Tourism Forum at the Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort with a Flagler.

Named for Henry Flagler, the Flagler Awards were established in 2000 to recognize outstanding tourism marketing in the state, and honor individuals and organizations dedicated to improving Florida’s position as one of the world’s most popular travel destinations. Open to all individuals, private businesses and not-for-profit organizations, the 2019 award entries were reviewed by seven judges, working independently, who evaluated the creativity, innovation, production quality and effectiveness of each entry.

At the Nov. 19 Chairman’s Dinner, Solomon, president of the Florida Seafood Festival, took home a Bronze award for the special event marketing done by the festival in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, on behalf of the 55th annual festival, which was held successfully about three weeks after the storm hit.

The 2019 Florida Tourism Hall of Fame inductee was Alan Maltz, the official photographer of both fine art and wildlife of Florida.
