The Lakeland-based grocery giant has, of course, made a point of challenging TV viewers around Florida and beyond to get through their shamelessly emotional holiday spots since 1989’s "Last Train Home" commercial aired featuring a photogenic late-80s family watching the sunkissed Florida landscape roll by from an Amtrak train window on their way to a delicious Publix-based supper with Gramps and Meemaw.

It combined all the tear-triggering elements we’ve come to know, love and weep to: inter-generational bonding, a sense of home, some bittersweet longing and, of course. delicious food. And this year’s ad, "Christmas Morning," provides all of that, plus an extra-weepy twist (Spoiler alert: our reviewer was literally sobbing at her desk.) You’re gonna love it. Or hate how much you love it. Or, like us, be really hungry and want to make a holiday pastry.

"Christmas Morning" joins the Kleenex-ready pantheon of Publix holiday commercials that include 2008’s "Holiday Surprise," where a young doctor missing his family’s Christmas dinner comes home to realize they’ve brought dinner to him and 2018’s "The Surprise" (Publix loves surprises!) where a sweet kid invites a lonely elderly neighbor to his family’s Christmas dinner.

Will "Christmas Morning" make you cry and miss your grandma? Probably. Will you mind? Probably not.
