The Franklin County Humane Society is receiving hunting dogs brought in on a daily basis. These dogs are often left in the woods to fend for themselves and some eventually find themselves walking down a busy highway where, if they're lucky, someone stops for them and brings them to the shelter.

These dogs are rarely reclaimed and so many are available for adoption. Most are very social and gentle and make great family pets, but are overlooked in the shelter and difficult to adopt. In order to encourage adoption of these handsome hounds, the humane society is reducing their adoption fee to only $50, which includes all their vaccinations, tests and spay/neuter. Start 2014 with a wonderful dog rescued from a life of desertion and starvation.
