All about ice this Saturday
Head to the Apalachicola Maritime Museum this Saturday, August 10 at 7 p.m. for a lecture all about ice! The block ice era may have passed, but author and photographer Elli Morris brings it back to life in her award-winning book “Cooling the South.” Morris is a professional photographer based in Richmond, Virginia. Admission to the lecture is free. Join us after the lecture for a shrimp boil on the docks for $12. St. George Island Sizzler Saturday
This Saturday, Aug. 10, the 16th annual St. George Island Sizzler 5K Race and One Mile Fun Run will take place on St. George Island. On-site registration at Lighthouse Park begins at 3 p.m. The one-mile fun run begins at 5:30 p.m. and the 5K begins at 6 p.m. Post-race party, including fresh local seafood, and awards at Lighthouse Park at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $25, includes shirt, race packet, one post-race party ticket; the $20 no-shirt option includes race packet, post-race party ticket. Tickets to the post-race party are $15.

Summer Bingo Tuesdays
On Tuesdays come to summer bingo upstairs at the fire station, 324 E. Pine Avenue on St. George Island at 7 p.m. Cost is 25 cents a card. Sponsored by the St. George Island Civic Club. Everyone welcome.
Franklin County’s oldest visitors
Every Wednesday in August from 2-3 p.m. you can hear a presentation about Sea Turtles,“Franklin County's Oldest Visitors,” by the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) and the St. George Island Volunteer Turtlers.
