At Tuesday morning’s meeting, county commissioners accepted from Apalachicola’s Margie Solomon a flag that was on the casket of her brother, Rocco Donato at his interment. Solomon’s brother was in the National Guard unit stationed in the Armory and his unit was one of the first called up when the US entered World War II.

“They all volunteered to go,” she said. Solomon has kept the flag for several years but believes her brother Rocky would want it to fly over the Armory. County Planner Alan Pierce assured her it will. Pierce is seen here holding the flag.
