Zemer Levav performs Saturday evening

Zemer Levav, which means “Song of the Heart” is a messianic Jewish music ministry that will be in concert at First Baptist Church of St. George Island at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, June. 22. The church is at 501 East Bayshore Drive on the island.

Zemer Levav sets Biblical lyrics to music with a folksy Celtic and Sephardic Jewish flavor. Choreographer Shimrit Hanes weaves Israeli dance into this family’s music, which creates a unqiue worship experience. The Hanes family has been traveling and playing music professionally for more than 10 years. They play guitar, harp, lyre, oud, flutes and Middle Eastern percussion.

Their first CD “L’Rosh Pina (For the Cornerstone)” was an independent release, and is available on Amazon.com. They also have a “Galilee of the Nations Music” release “As Long As I Breathe,” available in Christian bookstores nationally. Their third and most recent independent release is “Even There,” of RinahTines Records. Two members of the group, Shimnrit and Kerah Hanes, are BMI songwriters and write all the music for the band.
