The Philaco Women’s’ Club was awarded 10 first place certificates in the annual statewide competition sponsored by the Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Marilynn Hogan and Celeste Wall represented the club at the regional meeting in April.

 “I was so proud. So many years, I have attended that meeting and sat waiting for our name to be called,” SAID Hogan. “This year they never stopped calling us.”

Competing as a Ctegory 3 club with 50 to 65 members, under the leadership of President Jackie Bell, the Conservation, Education and Home Life committees all took first place overall for the state.

In addition, the Education Committee was awarded first place for education partnership and education program/ The Public Issues Committee won first places in the legislation/public policy category, and for public issues program, and third place overall.

The Conservation Committee was awarded first place for conservation partnership and program.

Home Life took first place for program and third place overall and the Arts Committee took third place for arts partnership.

Philaco was also placed on the “Dean’s List” for their monthly newsletter and for the Home Life program “The Calendar Girls Cabaret” in support of women’s health
