‘Butts and Clucks’ Saturday
The George E. Weems Memorial Foundation will hold its largest annual fundraiser, Butts and Clucks, this Saturday, May 11 from noon to 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park in downtown Apalachicola. The competitive cook-off helps raise money to meet the medical needs of local citizens. Judging begins at 2 p.m., with awards at 4 p.m. Sale of pulled pork dinner sandwiches begins at noon, with the live auction conducted by Harry Arnold starting at 1 p.m.
Scout troop regatta Saturday
This Saturday, May 11, come to Boy Scout Troop 22 Regatta Park on West Bayshore Drive near 9th Street for the annual scout sailing regatta, sponsored by the troop and the St. George Island Yacht Club. Everyone invited to come and view the sailing competition. Races start at 11a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. At 10 a.m. there will be a dedication of the park’s new pavilion, built by volunteers from Galloway Construction. The park will be the permanent location for the annual regatta.
Golf Gone Wild! May 18
There is still time to register for the second annual Golf Gone Wild golf tournament and silent auction on Saturday, May 18 at St. James Bay Golf Resort. The tourney, sponsored by St. James Bay Golf Resort and Forgotten Coast TV, benefits the Florida Wild Mammal Association. Come play on an Audubon-sanctioned golf course with cash prizes and help injured and orphaned birds and wildlife. The silent auction of weekend packages, art and more will be from 1 to 4 p.m. To register a team, call 697-9606.
Oyster licenses on sale May 17
The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will begin selling the Apalachicola Bay Oyster Harvesting License on Friday, May 17. To renew your license through June 14, please come to our temporary office in Eastpoint (350 Carroll Street),Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
