Rib cook-off Saturday in Eastpoint

The 12th annual Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department Charity Rib Cook-off will be Saturday, March 16 at the Eastpoint firehouse, at the corner of 6th Street and CC Land Road, one block north of US 98.

This year’s event will have competitors cooking more ribs than ever. In addition, there will be a car show, silent auction, live entertainment and, back by popular demand, the Liars Contest. Rides and face painting for the kids. Free admission. Gates open at 9 a.m. BBQ dinners served from 11 am ‘till it’s all gone. Come early.

Music at Dixie Theatre

On Friday, March 15, experience the Sarah Mac Band from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Dixie Theatre. The Dixie house band is back for their fourth season and nobody does it better…exceptional vocals and strong, smart lyrics bring a joyous blend of blues, rock, jazz and soul.

On Saturday, March 16, The Ned Devines will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from 8-10 p.m. The best Irish music on the Forgotten Coast. ApalachicolaArt Walk March 23

On Saturday, March 23, fine art in all forms will be woven in and around downtown Apalachicola where artists will show, sell and demonstrate their talents from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Festivities continue into the afternoon with a progressive wine tasting and hors d’ oeuvre from 3-5 p.m. In the evening local chefs will prepare special dishes at their restaurants highlighting fresh local ingredients. At 8 p.m. the Dixie Theatre presents “The Dixie Does Nashville,” Apalachicola’s annual singer songwriter festival produced by Universal Music Publishing. Wanna go fast?

On Saturday, March 23, time trials will take place on an open runway at Carrabelle’s Thompson Field Airport giving competitors a full half-mile of open throttle acceleration! What makes this event truly special is that participants will be allowed to compete against each other head-to-head in a safe environment, without being limited to the standard 1/8 or 1/4 mile distance. There will also be a live DJ spinning tracks all day long as well as food vendors when you’re ready for a break or a quick snack.
