One hundred youngsters fish C-Quarters tourney
Fish Florida sponsored the sixth Annual C-Quarters Youth Fishing Tournament, in Carrabelle, on Saturday, July 24.
One hundred youngsters 15 years of age and under participated.
Each young angler received a hat, t-shirt, rod and reel and tackle box. The fishing equipment was donated by Fish Florida and the hats, shirts and trophies were paid for with donations from local businesses and tournament sponsors. At the end of the day, fishermen and their families were treated to a cook-out with hot dogs, chips and drinks.
Children from Georgia, Louisiana and Florida joined in the fun. On Friday before the tournament, all of the youngsters attended a fishing clinic taught by C-Quarters Dock Master Millard Collins.
The children fished in the river and bay for speckled trout, flounder, catfish, pin fish, black sea bass, Spanish mackerel and pigfish.
The results were as follows:

Speckled Trout: 1st) Hunter Pitts, of Inverness
Catfish: 1st) Hayden McDaniel, of Carrabelle; 2nd) Steven Farmer, of Ty Ty, Ga.; and 3rd) Brandon McPherson, of Carrabelle
Black Sea Bass: 1st) John Russell Jr., of Panacea; and 2nd) Marina Adams, of Tallahassee
Pin Fish: 1st) Jabin Thompson, of Carrabelle; 2nd) Tory Russell, of Panacea; and 3rd) Duncan Whaley, of Carrabelle
Pigfish: 1st) Courtney Collins, of Tallahassee; 2nd) Jacob Thompson, of Carrabelle; and 3rd) Killian Scourtis, of Norcross, Ga.
Fish Florida is a non-profit organization that provides funding to organizations that teach children and adults about Florida’s fish, aquatic habitats, and resource stewardship; including ethical fishing skills and ways to protect Florida’s aquatic environments.
