PASCO, Wash. — Olivier Basabe homered and doubled, driving in two runs, and Omar Cruz hurled five scoreless innings as the Tri-City Dust Devils topped the Eugene Emeralds 4-1 on Friday in a Northwest League baseball game.

Cruz (1-0) allowed three hits while striking out six to pick up the win.

Tri-City (17-18) started the scoring in the first inning. After leading off the inning with a double, Aldemar Burgos advanced to third on a groundout and then scored on an error.

After Tri-City added two runs, the Emeralds (12-23) cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Grant Fennell hit an RBI double, driving in Luis Vazquez.

The Dust Devils tacked on another run in the sixth when Basabe hit a solo home run.

Paul Richan (0-1) went three innings, allowing three runs and three hits but the Emeralds committed four errors. He also struck out one and walked one.

Jordan Guerrero struck out the side for his third save of the season. Four Tri-City pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts and no walks.
