John Davis Shiver was born on May 23, 1943 and passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016.

He was known to everyone as Uncle Johnny. He was a good man, and done a lot for people. Johnny worked in the seafood industry most of his life.

He leaves behind his companion, Barbara Jean Shiver. He also leaves behind sisters Caroline Drouin (Rudy), of Holiday, Margarette Roden (Fred) of Hudson; Darlene Estes (Larry), of Eastpoint; and Charlotte Price (Gene) of Eastpoint; brothers Albert Johnson, of Houston, Texas, and Richard Johnson, of Holiday; many nieces and nephews, and tons of friends and people he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Davis Shiver and Lovie Marie Melvin; and stepmother Lizzie Shiver; and three brothers, Gary M. Shiver, Raymond Shiver and Charles King.

There was a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 13 at the First Baptist Church, 447 Avenue A, Eastpoint.
