American Legion plans Tonya's Hope fundraiser

            American Legion Post 82, 2316 Oak Street, Lanark Village, will host its third annual Tonya's Hope cancer fundraiser, on Saturday, April 4, to benefit residents of Lanark who have been stricken with cancer.

            The activities will start at 9 a.m. with a Treasure Sale; coffee and donuts will be served. Donations will be accepted at the Legion Post any day after 4 p.m. At noon we will have a memorial service and a Celebration of Life ceremony for those living with or cured of cancer.

            The pig, cooked by Thomas Lee Brannan, will be served at 12:15 p.m. Side dishes will include cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad or Tommy Larson's famous corn on the cob. You will have a choice of three sides for a donation of $8.

            Also at 12:15 p.m., we will have our favorite entertainers playing and singing for you enjoyment. Turk Leonard will sing your request and our own Carrabelle songbird Evelyn McAnally will be singing also. All food and entertainment will be under our pavilion, weather permitting.

            At 3:30 p.m. the fun will continue inside the lounge with a live auction featuring Chuck Spicer as the auctioneer. He will have the most valuable and unique items to auction off. After the auction Evelyn and Company will be performing our famous Karaoke for the rest of the evening.

            Tonya's Hope was started to help Tonya Bridges when she was so very ill. We continue with this very worthwhile project in her memory and we thank her family for allowing us to honor her in this way.
