Seahawks Debut New Junior Beta Club
At a moving ceremony April 2, the Franklin County Middle School inducted the first 46 members of the first ever Junior Beta Club.
With Stephanie Howze serving as sponsor and Roy Carroll as co-sponsor, the club honors students with at least a 3.0 grade point average, no major discipline referrals and a teacher's recommendation.
Each of the students received a certificate, pin and decal, presented by Middle School Dean Nina Marks, at the ceremony at the Battery Park Community Center.
Carroll opened the program with a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an introduction of officers, all eight graders. They include President Matthew "Bubba" Brannan, Vice President Ciara Moore, Secretary Lyndsey Mahaffee, Treasurer Samantha Emswiler and Historian Tiffani Schmidt, who was absent.
Sixth graders inducted included Cameron White, Bria Walker, Logan McLeod, Andrea Cupid, Leonard Ward, Brook Pittman, Austin Marina, Laura Gallegos, Myel DeCoursey, Jesse Cameron, Candice Bright, Ryan Babb, Sydney Altman, Haleigh Ming, Chad Coulter and Roxanne Barahona.
Seventh graders inducted were Devon Young, Chena Segree, Karlie Tucker, Stephanie Marxsen, Carla Lewis, Morgan Kelly, Griffin Kahn, Taylor Herrington, Jece Hatfield, Michael Harris, Casey Sapp, Alexis Ryan, Miranda Pilger, Rahkeim Pierce, Haley Mathes, Kyndl Schoelles and Hanna Oxendine.
Eighth graders inducted were Samantha Turner, Christina Pateritas, Tanner Klink, Carli Klink, Austin Larkin, Adreenah Wynn, Sami Coulter and the officers, Schmidt, Brannan, Emswiler, Moore and Mahafee.
