Camp Gordon Johnston parade Saturday

On Saturday, March 9, at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Highway 98 in Carrabelle, the Camp Gordon Johnston Days parade will begin, featuring World War II vehicles, tanks, and modern military equipment. Marching bands, active duty soldiers, civic groups, and re-enactors will participate in the parade festivities. The public is cordially invited to attend

The Camp Gordon Johnston Museum will be open for visitors on Thursday noon to 4 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. hours. The museum is closed Sundays.

 

Dixiepresents world music, songwriters

Back for their second season at the Dixie, the Maharajah Flamenco musicians are truly amazing! High-energy, daring, soulful world music. Argentine tango, Brazilian samba, Latin/Caribbean rhythm...a dynamic expression of Flamenco Nuevo. Tickets for 8 p.m. Friday, March 8 show are $25.

On Saturday night, March 9, the Dixie presents “An evening of New Orleans songwriters.” Jon Roniger is truly a unique slice of American songwriting, blending New Orleans style jazz and blues with folk storytelling, and Kristen Diable's voice is a formidable instrument, Dusty Springfield sass couched in Norah Jones’ seduction. Don’t miss Saturday dinner-dance

Tickets now on sale for the 2013 Camp Gordon Johnston Days Dinner/Dance at the Carrabelle Municipal Complex on Saturday evening, March 9.. Tickets are $17 each but World War II veterans and active duty soldiers eat for free. Hog Wild Bar B - Q will cater, with live dance music provided by Not Quite Ready.

Tickets available at the CGJ World War I Museum or on-line at www.campgordonjohnston.com. You may also purchase them from any Camp Gordon Johnston Association member. This event is sponsored, in part, by the Franklin County Tourist Development Council.

 

FCSWA to meet Monday

The new meeting date for the Franklin County Seafood Workers Association is Monday, March 11 at 6 p.m. in at the Eastpoint Firehouse on Sixth Street. We will be announcing new board members and will be looking for a new secretary and new second vice president.
