A new correctional officer training program will be starting Jan. 22 at the Gulf/Franklin Campus of Gulf Coast State College in Port St. Joe. This program is designed to prepare students for the state officer certification exam. Individuals who pass this exam are eligible for employment in any state, county or privately run correctional facility in Florida .

The program will be conducted using the new shorter curriculum and will last approximately three months. The program will be offered during the day and will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, Monday through Thursday.

Museum to screen documentary Jan. 25

The 28th Infantry Division that trained at Camp Gordon Johnston bore the brunt of the opening drive of what was known as the “ Battle of the Bulge.”

On Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m., a documentary “The Drive to the Ardennes ” will be shown in the movie theatre at the Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Museum.
