Lanark News January 16, 2014: Don’t forget to pick up after your pet

Published: Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 01:21 PM.

Be looking for you at lunch today. Had a good crowd but there was a place for you. Your donation will be collected at the door and the line forms at noon, so come on over the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center and join us, why don’t you?

We had a great time at Chillas Hall last week for bingo. There will be bingo every Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. The door opens at 6 p.m. So come on over and join in the fun. I just might call the numbers you need.

Father Eddie will celebrate Mass for Louis Staff on Friday, Jan. 17 at Sacred Heart Church , 2653 US 98, Lanark Village . Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. with refreshments in the church hall following. We can visit with Louis’ wife, Mary and other family members.

This Saturday, Jan. 18, you can start the day with a full breakfast at the Lanark Village Boat Club. Our faithful volunteers will take your orders and prepare either pancakes or French toast, bacon or sausage, eggs, juice and coffee. Your donation of $5 will be collected at the door. Don’t worry about the calories. You can work them off at the January Birthday Bash at Camp Gordon Johnston American Legion Post 82. There will be food, music, music, music and other things to be enjoyed. See ya there! The fun starts at 6 p.m. and we will be glad to see you.

Now, about the pick-up and leash law. When you are walking your pet, it must be on a leash and you need to carry some paper towels to clean up after your pet and a plastic bag to put their leavings in. Read the signs!

Be kind to one another, check in on the sick and the housebound and remember, if you can’t say anything nice about your neighbor, silence is golden.

Until next time, God bless America , our troops, and the poor, homeless and hungry.
