A white pickup truck sped into Apalachicola before flipping over Saturday evening, injuring the driver.
According to a preliminary report by Officer Ginger Creamer, who responded at 7:12 p.m., a white pickup truck, driven by Archie Busby, Jr., was upside down at 24th Avenue and Second Street, with bystanders there trying to lift a tree off the driver.
“He was in and out of consciousness and having trouble breathing, and bleeding from the head and face,” Creamer wrote.
A passenger, Archie’s sister, Karen Sasnett, was taken by ambulance to Weems Memorial Hospital, where she was cleared and released.
Busby was lifeflighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he was stable and in critical donation earlier this week.
“It appeared that he was speeding and lost control of his vehicle,” said Police Chief Bobby Varnes. “And after it was over, a few people said they saw the vehicle speeding. He hit a culvert or something, the truck went airborne and hit a palm tree.”
