A Port St. Joe woman was arrested April 24 by Apalachicola Police Officer Timothy Davis on a charge of grand retail theft after police say she was seen on a surveillance video taking several items from the Grady Market in downtown Apalachicola.

Frances Wyman, 52, was arrested without incident after Grady employees observed, and later confirmed, that some high-dollar items were missing from the store. The employees notified the owner, who reviewed video footage taken by the surveillance camera installed inside the store, which they say implicated Wyman as the perpetrator.

Although she was not named nor charged in any other incidents, Apalachicola police said Wyman told officers she also victimized several other stores in the downtown area.

Wyman was booked into the Franklin County Jail on a charge of grand retail theft.
