The Franklin County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division has received information the "jury duty scam" which has taken place in other parts of the country has hit our local area.

An unknown person calls area residents claiming to be a local law enforcement officer. He then informs the victims that they have missed jury duty and must immediately pay a fine or face arrest. The suspect is utilizing a phone application that makes his number appear to be local.

Deputies are reminding citizens that no law enforcement officer will ever call demanding money in this manner. Should you be contacted by someone posing as officer demanding money, please contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 670-8500.
