The daughter of an Apalachicola woman found dead on an isolated beach Wednesday afternoon about 10 miles west of town has been charged with her murder.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, arrested Sandra Anne Loudermilk-Conkel, 46, of Apalachicola, Saturday afternoon on charges of first degree murder in connection with the death of 68-year-old Cynthia Green.

Loudermilk-Conkel was arrested without incident at the room where she was staying at the Best Western Motel in Apalachicola. She is being held without bond.

The investigation is ongoing. The Office of the State Attorney, 2nd Judicial Circuit will prosecute this case.

Undersheriff Joel Norred said law enforcement officials interviewed several people in connection with the murder, but are not seeking other suspects in connection with the murder. “We believe she acted alone,” he said.

Norred declined comment on the cause of death, other than it was a homicide, and said the autopsy findings have not yet been shared with the sheriff’s office. Several sources familiar with the investigation have confirmed that Green suffered multiple stab wounds.

In addition to obtaining a subpoena to search Green’s bank records, the sheriff’s office seized Green’s vehicle, which Loudermilk-Conkel was known to drive frequently. It was taken to the FDLE lab in Tallahassee.
