Sixteen Samaritans visit Franklin County
A group of 16 members of the Southside Baptist Church of Perry spent their vacation in an unusual way this year.
True, they rented a house at the beach.
But instead of whiling away the hours lounging in the sun, they gave of themselves to repair a house for Alma Brannan in Eastpoint.
They painted, cleaned the yard and installed a new window to replace a broken one.
Bert Ivey, director of ElderCare Services in Franklin County, arranged for the makeover.
"Last year, Rev. John Sink told me the group was coming and wanted a project. They repaired a house in Carrabelle. Ryan Sherrer, the youth director and I stayed in touch and this year we worked on Alma's house," said Ivey.
"Ryan is the boss," said Marilyn Walker.
"Jesus is the boss, I'm the youth director," said Sherrer.
"They have been wonderful. I just want to thank them," said Brannan.
