Family Announces Tyler Eddy Scholarship

The Franklin County Board of County Commissioners will host a dedication ceremony on Saturday, April 12 at 9 a.m. for the baseball fields newly named in the memories of Jacobie C. O'Neal and Tyler S. Eddy.

The two fields, at the D.W. Wilson Sports Complex on 100 Gibson Road, are being named to honor the two boys, who both were active members of the Franklin County Dixie League.

Eddy, the son of Bob and Toni (Courtney) Eddy, of Apalachicola, died suddenly last year while diving with his family off St. Joe Bay. He was also the grandson of Billy and Mary Jane Cannon, of Perry, the late Wade Courtney, and the late Thomas and Louise Allen.

O'Neal, of Apalachicola, who received a heart transplant as a very young boy, died two years ago after a valiant struggle.

The Eddy family has announced the formation of the Tyler Eddy scholarship for the Mike Martin Baseball Camp, with all donations going to send a deserving boy to the renowned Florida State University baseball camp.

This year the camp is held in three sessions, June 15 to 20, July 13 to 18 and July 27 to Aug. 1

Donations can be made at Coastal Community Banks under the name Tyler Eddy Benefit, or by calling Toni Eddy at 653-8940.
