Honor Society Selects Auburn's Courtney Amison

The Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society has selected Courtney Jeanelle Amison for membership in the local chapter at Auburn University.

Delta Epsilon Iota was established in order to recognize and encourage academic excellence in all fields of study. The organization rewards outstanding students through financial scholarships, provides leadership opportunities to its members, and promotes the principles of dedication, enthusiasm, and initiative among students participating in higher education throughout the United States.

Students qualify on the basis of academic achievement. Prospective members must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours at an accredited college or university, while maintaining a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or a scholastic ranking within the top 15 percent of their class.

Delta Epsilon Iota's membership is comprised of outstanding scholars attending many of the finest colleges and universities in the country. Organizational vision and cutting edge resources have made the society one of the leading academic development organizations, synonymous with leadership and excellence in academic life.

Courtney is also a member of Phi Lambda Sigma-Pre Law Honor Society, The National Honor Society-Scholars, American Psychological Association, College Democrats' Student Alumni Association, and "The Dean's List College of Liberal Arts" of Auburn University, having demonstrated a 3.81 grade point average.

A 2003 graduate of Apalachicola High School, she is the daughter of Tim and Ava Amison of Apalachicola. Her college major is psychology/criminology with an expected date of college graduation in fall 2008. Upon graduation in December, Courtney plans to further her education in law school.
