Key to the City
At a surprise birthday luncheon held Sept. 15 at the Water Street Hotel, Fran Edwards, of Eastpoint, right. received, among other gifts, a key to the city of Apalachicola. The tribute was presented by Mayor Van Johnson, left.
"I won't divulge your age, but I know that you have reached the point in life where we all aspire to be. Let me present you with this key to the city. I hope it will unlock the door to all of your desires," said Johnson.
"I've never had the key to a city before. I'll have to hang this up," Edwards said.
"The good news is, if you can find the door that key fits, your next raise is behind it," joked Curt Blair, Edwards' supervisor at the Tourist Development Council office. - By Lois Swoboda.
