Free Interactive Workshop Offered for Parents
For parents interested in helping your children be successful in school, at home, in the community, Guiding Good Choices is a five-week interactive workshop.
Participants will learn and practice skills for setting clear family guidelines, strengthening family bonds, helping children develop healthy behaviors, developing strategies to help your children avoid drug use and other adolescent problem behaviors, and increasing your children's involvement in the family.
The next workshop is scheduled for Thursday Aug. 28 and the following four Thursdays, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the new Franklin County School District campus in Eastpoint .
Certificates of completion will be provided to participants who complete all five sessions of the Guiding Good Choices workshop. Families will receive a Guiding Good Choices Family Guide. Parents who complete the workshop will be eligible to receive $25 from the Florida Center for Prevention Research.
Guiding Good Choices has been offered throughout the country and has been honored with several citations of excellence including "Model Program" from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
The Guiding Good Choices Parent Workshop is supported by the Florida Center for Prevention Research of Florida State University. This scheduled workshop will be provided at no cost to the participants through a grant initiative from the Governor's Drug Free Communities Program.
