Trump is succeeding in spite of the media

Trump returns from Helsinki to another firestorm of critics. Yes, he misspoke at one point. So what? Members of the liberal media wanted him to confront Putin on Russian meddling. Why? Everyone knows the Russians tried to disrupt our election process. (Obama tried to disrupt Israel's election.) Trump was there to open dialog with Putin, not bicker over minor issues.

Obama jumps on stage and claims that strong-arm tactics don't work. Did his eight years of wimpy apologizing to the world and never opposing Putin when he took over eastern Ukraine work? Obama acted like a school kid who gives his lunch money to a bully to leave him alone. How long does that work? Then Obama talks about universal income for everyone. Is he going to use and of the millions he has? I'll be not. Liberals are good at spending other people's money, not theirs.

Let's just review some of Trump's accomplishments in just 18 months:

He opened a dialog with North Korea, though it's not complete by a long shot.

He opened a dialog with Russia as things were really critical.

He implemented tax cuts to kicks tart the economy and give workers hope.

He is making sure manufacturing returns from Mexico and overseas after companies left because of Obama taxes.

The stock market is up without the subsidies Obama gave it to prop it up.

Unemployment is down to record lows for all.

The gross domestic product is at or above 4 percent growth, compared to the 1 percent or less under Obama.

Our military is strong and backed by Trump (not depleted, mocked and attacked like Obama did).

He is renegotiating our trade deals to give us the same tariffs that our trading partners have.

We have a president looking out for Americans, not the rest of the world.

Today, kids getting out of college can actually get a job and use their degrees instead of living at Mom's and Dad's and working at McDonald's.

Millennials are discovering that there is good in capitalism, whereas socialism just puts everyone at the same low level. Face it, people, Trump is and will be good for America and its citizens. I for one back Trump and wish him continued success. Thank God we have a man and not another mouse in the White House.

Pipeline protests are illegal and dangerous

Although the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals recently reaffirmed the Army Corps of Engineers’ review of Bayou Bridge, protests have continued at construction sites along the project route. These demonstrations don’t appear to be letting up anytime soon, as opposition groups continue to stage increasingly theatrical ways of disrupting construction.

Many of these protesting tactics are not only illegal but also dangerous. Activists have blocked access roads, attached themselves to construction equipment and climbed up trees blocking the pipeline route, refusing to come down. Local law enforcement have done an excellent job responding to these recent challenges, working proactively to ensure the safety of both workers and protesters. Our safety forces have been key to establishing a secure work area for construction workers, having diligently responded to difficult situations at all hours of the day, rain or shine.

Louisianians for Energy thanks law enforcement and local officials who have worked tirelessly to keep the people of Louisiana safe – especially its workers in the energy industry. Projects like Bayou Bridge greatly contribute to local economies, from job growth to millions of dollars in tax revenue that can benefit municipal services, like our first responders. We look forward to the safe completion of Bayou Bridge and the great benefits it will bring to our state.
