Senator to be guest speaker at luncheon

U.S. Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., will address a joint meeting of the Houma-Terrebonne, Thibodaux, Lafourche and St. Mary chambers of commerce on Aug. 9.

The 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. luncheon will be held at The Cypress Columns, 57 Tourist Drive, Gray.

Admission is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. The deadline for reservations is 5 p.m. Aug. 6. The cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members after the deadline.

TGMC honors Leader of the Quarter

Terrebonne General Medical Center has named Andrea Gaudet as the hospital’s Leader of the Quarter.

Gaudet began working at TGMC while she was a high school student, has worked there 20 years and is now the the pharmacy director, the hospital said in a news release.

She is “a dedicated team member and leader. She consistently identifies ways to further improve pharmacy processes ensuring efficient and accurate patient care, makes thoughtful decisions and serves as a true role model to her team with her endless dedication and attention to detail,” TGMC said.

Gaudet’s accomplishments include implementing the MedSafe program, a free system that allows the community to safely dispose of old medications, and ensuring a smooth transition in last year’s EPIC conversion.

 

Houma doctor elected society director

Dr. Marc Ardoin, with EyeCare Specialties, 564 Valhi Blvd., Houma, was elected president of the Gulf Optometric Society of the Optometry Association of Louisiana for the 2018-19 year at the association's annual convention in Baton Rouge this month.

Ardoin is a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

 

Danos achieves safety milestone

Danos’ construction service line has worked 1 million man-hours without a recordable incident as classified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the company announced.

“From the field to the support team, this milestone is a credit to the diligence of our entire construction team,” said Mark Danos, owner of the Gray-based company. “We have strong field leadership, excellent craft workers and engaged safety technicians assigned to each project, all of whom prioritize safety throughout their daily work.”

The company has over 600 employees working in areas of construction. Project locations include Gulf of Mexico, Permian Basin, Marcellus Shale, Danos’ Amelia facility and onshore locations across south Louisiana.

 

Chamber to hold Lunch with the Pros

The Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce will hold its Lunch with the Pros on Aug. 14.

The topic is "Today's Technology for Today's Businesses."

The lunch will feature Serah Ridolfo, Get Online NOLA, on "Websites;" Lee Bachlet, The Courier and Daily Comet publisher, on "Understanding Online Analytics, Digital Marketing and SEO;" and other speakers on social media and most useful business apps.

The 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. luncheon will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott, 142 Library Drive, Houma.
