Bayou Black Elementary: Bayou Black Elementary will host a School Beautification Day July 12. There will be painting of designs and motivational words on the bathroom stall doors and some walls in school. Community members 15 years and older are welcome to attend.
Bayou Black gym: The gym offers a fitness studio that consists of an elliptical trainer, treadmills, a bicycle and a weight station. Cost: $40. The gym is hiring temporary part-time help for concessions, with positions available now through the last week of October. Call 876-4270 for more information.
Pool schedule: Sunday --1:30-6 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday-- 12:45-3:45 p.m.;Wednesday --6-8 p.m.; Friday, Saturday-- 12:45-4 p.m.and 4:30-7:30 p.m.Entry is $3 per person per session for 3 years old and up. Family membership is $100. The one-time fee allows unlimited access to the pool during public swim. Pull-ups are required for children who are not potty trained and are available for $1.
Spray park: Sunday private rentals are available 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; public play 1:30-6 p.m.; Monday public play 30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday public play 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:45-7:45 p.m.; Friday public play 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 4:30-7:30 p.m.; Saturday private rentals 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; public play 1:15-4 p.m. and 4:30-7:30 p.m. Public play is $3 per session for children 3-12. Fundraiser Night: The Bayou Black Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fundraiser night July 11 at Texas Roadhouse. Ten percent of the total food purchases will go to the fire department. Don’t forget to mention it when you order.
Bayou Black float riders: The Bayou Black Men and Ladies Float Riders are sponsoring the Choupic and Catfish Rodeo July 21 at Jack’s, 1402 Barrow St., Houma. All fish must be brought in alive and caught on rod and reel or pole. The weight master’s decision is final. Scales will open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. $50 participation drawing with ticket purchase. There will be music, food and lots of fun.
